Street Fighter is a fighting game from 1987 played in two dimensions. Street Fighter, which Capcom made, is still one of the most popular 2D fighting games today. Capcom recently announced the next game in their huge franchise. Here’s everything we know about Street Fighter 6, from leaks to the release date.

Street Fighter 6: Date of Release

In their most recent show, Capcom said that Street Fighter 6 will come out in 2023. Capcom didn’t say what month or date it was or what quarter it was. Based on what we know about recent games like Street Fighter IV and V, we can guess that it will be between February and July of 2023. Based on the history of other big gaming franchises made by Capcom, it’s safe to say that this timeline is right on the money for when they came out.

Platforms

In the big Capcom leak, a new email has been found that suggests the game is coming not only to PC and PS5 but also to Xbox Series S, and Series X. PS4 and Xbox One are also listed, which suggests that the game will come out on more than one platform. Street Fighter 5 wasn’t available on Xbox consoles before, but since Microsoft’s user base is growing, it makes sense that the next game in the series will be available on more than one platform. Just wait and see.

At the recent PlayStation State of Play event, a new trailer for Street Fighter 6 was shown for the first time. We saw new gameplay and were reminded of the game’s colorful look. We also learned about World Tour and Battle Hub, two new game modes.

The first is a full story mode, while the second is an open hub world where you can fight other players, similar to the NBA 2K series’ MyPark mode. On top of that, Ryu, Chun-Li, and Luke are all confirmed to be back, along with a new character named Jamie. His fighting style is based on drunk boxing since he drinks an energy drink right before his special move.

The footage also showed that the controls had been changed to make special moves easier for new players. Street Fighter 6 stays true to its roots and welcomes new players with open arms. It has a real-time commentary system that helps new players understand how the game works. You can watch the new video down below.

If you’re looking for a great opinion piece on Street Fighter 6, you should give this latest feature by VG247’s Alex Donaldson five minutes of your time. The article looks at how important it is for Capcom to get Street Fighter 6 right, not just because the series’ 35th anniversary is coming up in 2022.

Gameplay and Rules

Before I start this part, I’d like to thank VesperArcade for teaching me most of the game’s rules and how it works. Here is where you can see his whole video:

Luke and Ryu, along with their new models, are used in the game. The HUD is simple and colorful simultaneously, making it easy for players to tell each bar apart. The super arts gauge is still at the bottom of the screen, and most of the other gauges are the same. However, Street Fighter 6 has a new system called the Drive System.

Street Fighter 6’s modes of play

Capcom has made it clear that three game modes are available: Fighting Ground, Battle Hub, and World Tour. Here is a short explanation of each mode:

  • Fighting Ground: This mode is the arcade game mode from previous versions of the game, where you battle against characters controlled by the computer.
  • Battle Hub: This mode is a vs. mode in which you compete on a professional ladder against gamers worldwide.
  • World Tour: The World Tour is the newest thing. It’s an open-world single-player story mode where you can make your myth in the globe of Street Fighter!
